JoAnn Thomas has been a member of the Contra Costa Chorale since its inception in the late 1960s. She grew up in Maine and sang with choral groups while attending the University of Maine. She has soloed frequently in both soprano and alto ranges with the Chorale, singing soprano solos in performances of Lloyd Webber's Requiem and Vaughan Williams's Dona Nobis Pacem, alto solos in the Vivaldi Gloria, the Bach Magnificat, and the Brahms Alto Rhapsody.

JoAnn is a school psychologist with the West Contra Costa Unified School District, is an avid horsewoman, and is known for writing songs to celebrate events in the school district. She lives with her family in Richmond.
